No redeeming qualities...

Dear Editor--

I would like to extend my sympathies to the person or persons who visited our home during the weekend. While I have been wrapped up in my petty concerns regarding my husband's continued layoff and the care and feeding of our ten-month-old son, I have ignored your needs. I'm sorry.

I can't imagine what it must be like to have such a complete lack of self-esteem that you can only lift your spirits by destroying the property of others. How sad to believe that you have no higher purpose in life than to take up space in a police file. If only your parents loved you enough, you might be motivated to better yourself and your lot in life.

While my husband is seeking a replacement for the shattered window, perhaps you can fill your hours of boredom by getting a hobby that brings positive attention about which you can brag to your family. Something that doesn't have to be done in cowardice, under cover of darkness. If you can't get a hobby, at least get a life. The one you've chosen so far is only going to net you a career in remedial rock-breaking. I can't say that I have much faith in you, but I have plenty in our local law enforcement.

We got the rear window replaced the very next morning, thanks to a round of phone calls. That afternoon, we were in a fender-bender when a HUGE pickup backed into us. No damage to the car, but I jammed my fingers when I smacked the dash (Oh, God! Not on knitting night!), and Himself has a gash across his nose from whacking his glasses against the doorframe when he jumped out to see if the world was coming to an end. Junior was perfectly fine (Yay, car seats!). The funny part was the look on the other driver's face when she saw Himself with blood pouring down his nose...

So, please comment. Have you been the victim of vandals? Can you explain why anyone would find entertainment value in smashing something for the hell of it? Revenge I can understand. I'd still be pissed off, but I'd understand. Did the little jerks get caught? Thoughts and stories are welcome.

I am sorry to hear about your window.

Somebody stole my cactus collection off my porch a few years ago. I guess they were looking under the plants for a key, but I will never understand why they took the plants. I mean come on were they really planning on taking care of them? I hope they did.

Hey~
This is all so awful...thank goodness no one was too badly hurt in the fender-bender! But how scary for you all, and boy, have you had your share of misfortune lately!!! I am so lucky never to have been a victim of any crime!(I'm touching wood...I don't want to tempt fate.)
Hugs to everyone...I just hope they catch the malicious, destructive little buggers who wronged you and that they get what they deserve!!! I can only imagine it's hard not to be bitter.
Take care of yourselves. Good thoughts go out to you all. xo

Oh dear! Too many stressful things all at once.....Glad you all escaped with only minor injuries! Have no insight into why people do such malicious damage.....We live in a quiet neighborhood where the speed limit is 30 mph, but we get people with trains to catch [to hell, maybe?] who go speeding by on two wheels and never get caught. If I go five miles over I'll get a ticket for sure! Hope things look up for Himself soon.

We have a storage building on the West side of our 20 acres and the "Yellers" (named for their obnoxious habit of drinking, building bonfires and yelling profanities at each other) found it amusing to break out all the windows. Consider it an IQ test.

May things start looking up very soon!

Rather recently, out car windsheild was smashed by unknowns... the local PD thinks it was stupid kids, as the SAME thing happened the same night, around town.

Horrible, horrible, and since we don't keep the (almost 20 year old) car fully insured, we had to pay out-of-pocket to fix it... painful with a Hubby in grad school!

I'm so sorry :(
