Yarn Harlot rules!

I think I'm going to set myself a new mission in life. "Pictures of my son being held by famous people that are important to me." Tommy Emmanuel, for one, and now Her Harlotness! Behold:

I'm noticing a trend here. Little Himself is wide awake and excited during an event. The moment he gets near the celebrity in question, Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... Fame has a soothing effect on him, it seems.

I can see him in another twenty years, onstage with his band:

"Hello, St. Louis! Are you ready to Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz..."

"Look out! He's drooling on the mic!"

"Guitarist recovering after shocking performance. Film at eleven!"

So we went to see the Harlot. It was awesome. Terrific knitting aside, she's also a great writer. Hey, no wonder Junior fell asleep! It was just like being at home. Books and yarn everywhere... Stephanie was everything an audience of rabid knitters could want. Warm, witty, gracious and apparently equipped with a huge supply of caffeine. She sat for HOURS, signing books and chatting with everyone in line. I climed the steps to take pictures for one of our group members, who whispered to Stephanie, who turned and offered to take a picture with me! How cool is that? I instead asked if she would hold "my knitting" for a shot. Junior is wearing the socks I made for him, so I figured that should count.

I wasn't able to secure a stamped ticket to get a book signed (Thank you, quarry!), but I got that picture anyway, which made my day. Little Himself was, as you can see, very well behaved. Heck, he even spit up on the tile part of the floor, instead of the carpet!

As we were leaving (with enormous grins), the Harlot called out, "Nice finished object!" and pointed at Junior.

It just doesn't get any better.

The Yarn Harlot does indeed rule. I haven't laughed so hard in I don't know how long...

You were there too? Where were you sitting? Did you see me? I only saw one baby, who was actually a toddler, and it was a girl. Or a boy in a cute pastel crocheted jumper. I was wearing my angora Stargazer sweater. Wasn't Stephanie so very cool? I got the chance to see/hear her in Wichita last year, and she was even better last night.

I am so jeaous!! No one ever comes to our little town. If she is ever within 100 miles of me I want to go see her, or Lauri of the Divorced and Covered in Cat Hair fame.
Little Himself is just adorable.

I move out of Overland Park, and look what happens! She was in SF two weeks ago, but since I've moved to Oregon there seems to be a certain injustness in the universe... (sniffle) Junior does look adorable!
