Pamindo socks.

Well might you scratch your head, wondering what a "pamindo" might be. It's a gawky pink bird with long legs, as named by a two-year-old boy. We saw several pamindos at the zoo last week, and Junior was quite impressed when one marched right up to him.

I recently started spinning the Fruit Salad roving, and our Parrothead friend flipped over the results.

"That looks like flamingo yarn! Can you make socks out of that?"

Oh, boy. Well. Yes. Yes, I can. I don't have a flamingo sock pattern, but I'm sure I can come up with something cool.

So. Picture a self-striping yarn in flamingo pink and red and cream. Picture a guy who's a respectable businessman during the day, and total beach bum by night. He wants to wear these flamingo socks with his business suits.

Suggestions? How should a pamindo sock look?

I know the one about where does a two-ton gorilla sleep, but this has me stumped. First, I guess a cable pattern to represent the curved neck and beak. Second, you only need one if this guy tucks one leg up under his tailfeathers like flamingos do. I know, I'm not very helpful.

My two cents - just plain and let the colours do the talking.

I have never heard of a pamindo bird before. How intriguing is this question!

Pamindos have always been my favorite birds. I think I would love pamindos on my socks.

I think flamingo socks ought to be long enough to cover the flamingo's legs all the way up to the feathers, with perhaps a special nod to the backward bend he has at the knees......
